Born and raised in Japan, Ayami Nishimura moved to London in the early 90's and relocated to NYC in 2013. Self-taught, Ayami has been a makeup artist for the past 20 years working with photographers like Laurie Bartley, Solve Sundsbo, Rankin, Sean & Seng, Mariano Vivanco, Ellen Von Unwerth, Jason Kim, Juergen Teller and Daniel Sannwald on leading fashion publications such as Vogue Italia, Vogue Japan, Allure, Dazed & Confused, and W Magazine. Her high profile clients include Dolce & Gabbana, Donna Karan, Anna Sui, CO, COS and NIKE.

In 2012, Ayami published a beauty book with renowned Photographer Rankin titled “Ayami Nishimura by Rankin” and had a successful launch and exhibitions in London, Tokyo and LA. This book brought her the contract as Colour Director for the Japanese skincare brand POLA to launch a makeup line POLA B.A COLORS in 2018. Her style is colorful and elegant with an edge, her philosophy is “to express your own unique beauty.”
